  • The Skillful Follower Of Christ

"In all your ways acknowledge Him,
And He will make your paths straight."

    Proverbs 3:6

    *************

    Acknowledge Him.

Learn to know Him.  Find Him out and discern Him.  Come to know Him through your experience.  Recognize Him.  Become skilled in knowing Him.  Become instructible by Him.  This is what the Hebrew word "yada" for "acknowledge" is speaking of.

    "In all your ways..."

The Hebrew word is "derek", meaning:

As you go your way...while you walk on your road of life...and go the distance...as you journey along in the direction of your life...in your manners and habits...in your moral character...

Day in and day out, as you go up and come down, in and out-come to Him, talk to Him, see Him, listen for Him.  In your  habits and in the way you practice your morality.

    This comes with a promise.

"He will make your paths straight."

The wrong will turn right.  The crooked will become straight.  The rough will become smooth and level.

The skillful follower of Christ will learn how to see God work in his journey in ways others will never experience.   The old roadway will give way to the new highways of our God.

My soul will wander away from Him every time it can.  My flesh and will does not appreciate the way of the Lord.  But as the Psalmist said, "Bless the Lord oh my soul and all that is within me, bless His holy name." (Psalm 103:1)

I must take charge of my soul.  I must tell my soul to bless Him!!  I must take charge of my emotions.  I must acknowledge Him in all my ways.

    I must.  I must.  I absolutely MUST!!!!

....If I want to see the new roads He will build for me.

    *********

My roads have become burdensome Lord.  My travels have not always been the most efficient.  I have chosen the way of self far too often.  Forgive me Lord.  Cleanse me of my filthy, sinful ways.  I acknowledge You right now.  Take my mess and transform me.  Take my confusion and renew me.  Build a new highway of holiness.  A roadway for us to travel upon together.  I'm tired of traveling without Your leadership.  Forgive me.  Help me.  I come to you now and I enter Your school of the Holy Spirit.  I'm looking for You.  I'm listening for you.  I'm leaning upon you.....AMEN.
